FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Solar Is for Everyone” Achieves 501(c)(3) Status and Secures First Grant to Launch Climate-Resilient Housing Project

Evansville, IN — April 17, 2026 — Solar Is for Everyone (SIFE) proudly announces that it is now officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, marking a major milestone in its mission to expand access to clean, reliable solar energy for nonprofit organizations and low-income communities.

With a clear and urgent purpose—“Solar Is for Everyone”—the organization is committed to eliminating energy insecurity by delivering affordable, resilient, and sustainable energy solutions to those who need them most.

SIFE has also received its first grant award, a $5,000 seed grant from CDFI Friendly Evansville Region, which will help fund its inaugural project: the development of a climate-resilient, solar-powered fourplex designed specifically for low-income and vulnerable populations.

This innovative project, known as the Resiliency Fourplex, will integrate solar generation, battery storage, and durable construction to ensure uninterrupted power—even during grid outages. The model is designed to protect residents from rising energy costs while providing reliable electricity for essential needs, including medical equipment and daily living.

As outlined in the project vision, SIFE is building more than housing—it is creating a new standard of stability and protection:

“We are not simply building units. We are building protection.”

The fourplex will serve as a scalable blueprint for future developments, demonstrating how clean energy and housing can be combined to deliver structural, energy, and financial resilience to underserved communities.

“Our goal is simple but transformative,” said a representative of SIFE. “We believe access to clean, reliable electricity should not be a privilege—it should be a guarantee. This grant is the first step toward making that vision a reality.”

The organization extends its gratitude to CDFI Friendly for their support and shared commitment to strengthening communities through innovative financing and development.
